PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - Mar 4, 2013) - Looking for your good luck charm this St. Patrick's Day? Don't settle for wishing on a shamrock -- find it by adopting a pet at PetSmart Charities' community adoption event on Saturday, March 16 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Sunday, March 17 (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.). Sponsored by KTVK 3TV, Banfield Pet Hospital and Purina® Pro Plan®, the event will be held at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix (1826 W. McDowell Rd.) in partnership with several local animal welfare agencies.
"This community adoption event is just one of many that make PetSmart Charities the leader in pet adoptions -- finding homes for over 400,000 dogs and cats each year," said Jan Wilkins, executive director for PetSmart Charities. "When you adopt, you save a pet's life and enrich your own."
For pet parents who have already found their furry lucky charm, the event will also offer free mobile spay/neuter clinics as well as low-cost rabies vaccinations and microchips on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about the specific vaccinations, spay and neuter clinic requirements and fees, visit PetSmart Charities' adoption events page.
"This event is a great way to showcase hundreds of adoptable pets in our local community that deserve lifelong loving homes," said Heather Allen, president and CEO, HALO Animal Rescue. "We hope that pet parents will take advantage of the on-site spay/neuter clinic, microchipping and vaccinations, which will keep pets healthy while also taking important steps to reduce the pet homelessness population."
Pet parents and their furry friends are encouraged to flash their best smiles at the event's on-site photo booth. Photos will be shared across PetSmart Charities' Facebook and Twitter social media channels, and attendees can join the conversation by using the hashtag #AZadopts.
