Fingerprint to Launch Mobile Learning and Play Network for Kids and Their Grown Ups

Former Executives From LeapFrog, PlayFirst, and 2K Games Team to Deliver First Platform to Unite Kids and Parents via Mobile Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 8, 2011) - Fingerprint Digital, Inc. today announced that it has secured $1.4 million in initial funding from K2MediaLabs, THQ, Reed Elsevier Ventures and Suffolk Holdings and unveiled its vision for a network of kids' learning and entertainment applications for mobile devices.

By 2013 there will be more than 1 billion Android and iOS device users, millions of whom will be kids. As the market for kids' applications rapidly grows, so do its challenges. Parents face difficulty staying engaged in their kids' play experience and finding appropriate content in crowded app stores, while developers struggle connecting to potential customers. Fingerprint is solving these issues by providing a shared fun and educational experience for parent and child, and delivering a high-quality platform for developers to showcase their applications.

Fingerprint was co-founded by CEO Nancy MacIntyre, who most recently served as executive vice president of product and marketing at LeapFrog Enterprises, and Kevin Wendle and Daniel Klaus of K2MediaLabs, an investment firm engaged in creating businesses for the connected consumer. Fingerprint brings fun learning and entertainment experiences to kids ages 3-8, as well as sharing and engagement opportunities between kids and grown ups across mobile devices and the web.

Every Fingerprint application will include a set of features that enable sharing and communication between kids and grown ups, game play snapshots for parents, a recommendation engine for new games based on play patterns and progress, and a virtual reward system that encourages kids to stay involved.

"To succeed in this market, it's critical to offer applications that are educational and fun, provide a way for kids and parents to have a shared experience, and leverage this shared experience to create new revenue opportunities for game developers," said MacIntyre. "With Fingerprint, we've built the first mobile social learning experience that's sure to make kids and grown ups smile, while opening up compelling business opportunities for developers in this largely untapped market."

"Fingerprint has a powerful vision to transform the kids' learning and play applications business," said Kevin Wendle, Chairman of K2MediaLabs. "Nancy has built an all-star team with a proven track record in building successful mobile, education and social gaming companies and the market Fingerprint is targeting is poised for disruption. Fingerprint has an opportunity to stand out as one of the big winners in this massive, untapped space."

Fingerprint also provides a platform for third-party game developers to design and deploy their games so that they can be discovered and shared by Fingerprint users. Developers can "fingerprint" their games, tapping into the sharing and engagement features of the Fingerprint platform to reach new audiences, as well as dramatically reduce the cost of customer acquisition and infrastructure support.

In Fall 2011, Fingerprint will launch four flagship first-party applications, and will continue to work with a range of third-party application developers to introduce additional new titles by the end of the year. For more information, visit www.fingerprintplay.com.
