Finisar Introduces Industry's First Dual Band Linear Photoreceiver for Test & Measurement and Microwave Photonics Applications at Photonics West 2016

Finisar Will Also Demonstrate Laser Pulse Shaping With the WaveShaper Optical Instrument

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - February 16, 2016) -  Finisar (NASDAQ: FNSR) today announced the release of the LPRV2300 dual band photoreceiver, the first product in a new series of linear, low-noise photoreceivers. The optical component is the industry's first high bandwidth linear receiver designed to offer DC coupled response. The DC response uniquely positions the LPRV for use in a variety of applications including test and measurement, microwave photonics, instrumentation and laboratory research. The LPRV2300 photoreceiver will be on display in Finisar's booth #4242 at Photonics West from February 16 to 18 at the San Francisco Moscone Center.

Finisar is pushing the envelope on commercially available photoreceivers. This new product provides a frequency range of DC to 35 GHz and a highly linear TIA (Trans Impedance Amplifier) guaranteeing a flat frequency response and signal amplification with industry leading low-noise performance. It includes a unique DC coupling feature and dual band responsivity in the 1310 and 1550 nanometer wavelengths.

The receiver's amplified optical detection coupled with low-noise performance will enable an entirely new generation of instrumentation in the test and measurement field, specifically in manufacturing test markets. In addition, the receiver can become an enabling component in lab experiments and R&D environments, as well as future microwave photonics applications.

"We are pleased to introduce Finisar's LPRV2300 as the industry's first photoreceiver product to guarantee completely linear performance from DC to high bandwidth in a single package," said John DeMott, Senior Marketing Director at Finisar. "In addition to traditional applications, this receiver with its unique DC coupling feature can enable exciting new applications becoming increasingly important to our customers."

Live Demonstration: Laser Pulse Shaping Using the WaveShaper™ 1000S/SP

In addition to the display of optical components, Finisar is demonstrating laser pulse shaping using the WaveShaper 1000S/SP Programmable Single Polarization Filter. Laser pulses at 1.03 μm wavelength with a length of about 20 picoseconds are shaped by applying filters in the amplitude and phase domain. Examples of generated shapes include compression of the pulses down to the femtosecond regime as well as generating Gaussian pulses and creating double pulses.

Finisar's full suite of photodetector, photoreceiver and instrumentation products, including WaveShaper, will be on display this week at Photonics West 2016. For more information about Finisar's products, visit https://www.finisar.com/.
