FinMetal Appoints Dr. Brian Marten as Senior Consulting Geologist

TAMPERE, FINLAND -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 26, 2007 -- FinMetal Mining Ltd (OTCBB: FNMM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Brian Marten has joined its professional team as Senior Consulting Geologist on an exclusive basis for the company in Karelia, Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Brian Marten retired in 2003 as in-house consulting geologist after fourteen years with Rio Tinto following a distinguished professional career of 38 years. He is known worldwide for his technical expertise in ore deposit geology which is the basis of mineral exploration.

During his time with Rio Tinto, and his previous 14 years with BP Minerals, Dr. Marten gained an almost unparalleled degree of experience in major metals throughout the world including nickel in Botswana, in the Jinchuan Belt in China and Brazil. His commitment to first-class, field-geology should prove invaluable to FinMetal's corporate mission of creating wealth by discovering and developing world-class nickel deposits in Finland.

Former Inco VP of Exploration and current FinMetal Director, Robert Horn commented on today's appointment, "The process of exploring for nickel is quite different and significantly more difficult than for most other metals. With the recent appointment of Steve Balch as our VP of exploration, we brought one of the best geophysicists in the nickel industry to lead our exploration programs in Finland and today with the addition of Dr. Brian Marten, we have added to our team one of the most experienced base-metals consulting geologists in the world."

Mr. Horn added, "A serious problem in the current global explosion of exploration is the lack of qualified people. With Brian Marten and Steve Balch I believe we have two of the world's best specialist technical experts. Furthermore through our association with Magnus we have the services of Bill Karvinen and Dr. Alf Bjorklund who bring the very important local knowledge of Finland."

Dr Marten graduated from Trinity College Dublin and received his doctorate from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a registered Euro Geologist and a Member of the Irish Association of Economic Geologists.
