FinMetal Appoints Robert Horn as Chief Operating Officer

TAMPERE, FINLAND--(Marketwire - August 21, 2007) - FinMetal Mining Ltd. (OTCBB: FNMM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robert Horn as the Company's Chief Operating Officer (COO) on a temporary basis while the company builds its operating experience in Finland. Mr. Horn has been a director of FinMetal since December 2006 and will continue to serve as a board member.

Mr. Horn is a registered professional geoscientist with more than 38 years experience in exploration and mining in South America, Africa, Australia, Europe, China, Indonesia, Canada and the United States. Bob graduated in 1965 in geology with a B.Sc. (Hons) from Exeter University, England, and a M.Sc. from London University in 1967. He was employed by RST in Zambia in mine geology and exploration from 1967 to 1970, and in a similar position with EZ in Australia from 1970 to 1974 when he was appointed in-house technical consultant to Docegeo, the non-ferrous exploration subsidiary of CVRD in Brazil. He joined BP Minerals in 1980 where he was appointed exploration manager, Europe -- a position that included management of a substantial exploration program in Norway and Sweden. He was subsequently vice-president, exploration at BP Canada and on the closure of this company in 1993, he moved to the U.S. as vice-president, exploration of FMC Gold where he remained until his appointment as vice-president, exploration of Inco Limited in February 2004. He is currently a Director of Meridian Gold Inc. and Skye Resources Inc.

"Bob Horn has organized and implemented first-class exploration programs in numerous countries around the world. Up until 2004 he served as VP of Exploration for nickel mining giant Inco, where during his tenure Inco saw substantial increases in its nickel reserves," stated Dan Hunter, CEO of FinMetal.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Horn stated, "During my career and particularly my time with Inco, I have been privileged to work with highly competent teams of expert explorers which were key to the very large increase in nickel reserves at Inco from 1995 to 2000. I believe that at FinMetal with ex-Inco geophysicist Steve Balch in charge of exploration and geologist Brian Marten, recently retired from Rio Tinto, we have the nucleus of a first class technical team in FinMetal."

Mr. Horn continued, "Finland offers perhaps the best geology in the world today for the discovery of major economic nickel deposits and I intend to take a hands on approach to overseeing the completion our current geophysical program and supervising our upcoming drill program."
