Firefly Mobile Offers Tips to Keep Kids Safe on Halloween

MIAMI BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - October 18, 2008) - Halloween may be a night of candy and fun for kids, but it can be a frightening time for parents concerned for their children's safety. That is why Firefly Mobile, the first pay-as-you-go service provider to design safe, easy-to-use mobile phones for kids, is supporting "Halloween Safety Month" by sharing several suggestions to help ensure parents and kids have a fun and safe Halloween.

"Child safety is a top priority at Firefly Mobile, especially during Halloween. We hope that by following these tips, parents and children will enjoy a safe, worry-free evening filled with more treats than tricks," said Kyle Cox, COO, Firefly Mobile.

Before your little goblins head out in search of treats, make sure to follow these tips from the National Safety Council and Prevent Blindness America:

-- When picking out costumes, look for bright colors and attach
reflectors to bags and costumes to make sure everyone in the neighborhood
    can see them.
-- Create a route for trick-or-treating before leaving the house and set
a time when kids should be home. Also talk through a plan to follow should
your child get separated from the group.
-- Instruct children to stop only at well-lit houses or apartment
buildings and to never enter a stranger's home.
-- Older children should trick-or-treat in groups, while younger children
should be accompanied by an adult. There is always safety in numbers,
    especially at night.
-- Make sure your child has a bright flashlight to illuminate sidewalks,
steps and paths and ensure they are visible to drivers.
-- Remind your child not to eat any treats until they get home and you
look through them to make sure they are all safely sealed; discard any
    suspicious-looking treats.
-- Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your police or sheriff's

"It is also important to have a dependable way to reach your child, or for your child to reach you, if something happens. Firefly's reliable, easy-to-use phones are the perfect solution," said Cox. "Designed specifically for kids ages 5-12, Firefly phones are small enough to fit into any pocket or pumpkin, and are equipped with Mom, Dad and emergency speed-dial keys to make it fast and easy for kids to call for help."

The Firefly glowPhone, designed for kids ages 5-8, offers a five-way navigation key to scroll through the phonebook or play games and features a full color screen, built in games, and customizable ringtones and wallpapers.

The flyPhone, designed for tweens ages 9-12, features a unique electro-luminescent morphing keypad that can switch automatically between a traditional keypad and controller, as well as a built-in camera and MP3 player. The flyPhone lets tweens text and chat, and includes built-in games, ringtones, wallpapers and sample music and video. The included flyKicks software makes it easy to manage content and personalize the flyPhone by downloading music, videos, games, ringtones, and wallpaper.

Both phones come standard with robust parental controls that allow parents to limit calls and, with the flyPhone, texts to only those numbers they have pre-programmed into their child's phone. Parents are also given control of the monthly bill with flexible pay-as-you-go and affordable monthly rate plans.
