First All-Inclusive Carbon Capture Business Forum Scheduled for December

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - September 6, 2007) - Practical implementation of large scale carbon capture projects will be the focus of the industry's first business-oriented event, "Carbon Capture Status and Outlook," produced by Infocast in Washington, DC, December 3 - 5, 2007.

Carbon dioxide emission capture and sequestration (CCS) is increasingly looking like the do-or-die challenge for fossil fuel power generation and other emitting industries. This capability will permit the world to utilize abundant fossil fuel, particularly coal. However, the greatest uncertainty and expense in CCS lies in carbon capture, the front end of the process.

For the first time, a real worldview of what it will take to get regulators and financiers to back carbon capture on a scale massive enough for implementation will be explored. Uniquely rounded viewpoints on the state of carbon capture's performance and cost, and what will be required to achieve widespread implementation will be presented, along with advice and real world examples of the mitigation of associated risks.

The agenda will include:

    Updates on the leading technologies and their costs;

    Lenders and equity investors addressing economic and financial risks
    to be mitigated to enable capital investment in these projects;

    Representatives from various federal and state agencies outlining
    regulatory requirements that these projects must meet;

    Independent and consulting engineers explaining the economics and
    risks of scaling up carbon capture for coal plants;

    Investor owned utilities, independent power generators, major
    construction firms and carbon capture tech providers providing
    practical advice on mitigating construction and engineering risk.

The luncheon address, "The Role of Carbon Capture and Storage in Meeting U.S. Energy, Environment and Security Needs," will be given by General Richard Lawson (ret. USAF), Chairman, Energy, Environment and Security Group, Ltd.

The unique Carbon Capture Technology Showcase features in-depth briefings from the world's leading carbon capture technologists. CCS technology presentations will focus on both business applications and investment opportunities, so as to be relevant for the developer, emitter, financial and venture capitalist communities.
