First Annual Social TV Awards 2012 Winners Announced at Prestigious Gala for Social TV Excellence

The Much-Anticipated Awards Gala Recognized Industry-Leading Platforms, Programs and Solutions, Including Fox Broadcasting, ConnecTV, GetGlue, Team Coco, USA Network and More


LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 19, 2012) - On Tuesday, July 17th, 2012, at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, the first annual Social TV Awards honored top competitors in the social TV space with 21 highly-coveted award categories. The Insider's Kevin Frazier stepped in to emcee the prestigious gala after the original host, Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, was injured in a biking accident. The social TV awards, or STEVEEs, celebrated highly-acclaimed people and programs in the social TV and entertainment industry.

The category of Best Mobile Phone, iPad or Tablet Social TV Application featured an exciting voting experience, as audience members were asked to cast their vote in real time using IBT Realtime (www.realtime.co/) technology. Voters interacted with the new, exclusive Realtime technology by voting with their iPhones or iPads and witnessed a live race to the winner. AMC's The Walking Dead took home the STEVEE for the category.

Entries were eligible for all social TV platforms, programs, solutions and promotions that commenced anytime in 2011 through June 15th of 2012. The awards were open to all TV networks, producers, technology companies, promotion agencies, social networks, research companies, brands and any others that were involved in the social TV space. Entries were judged in two rounds by top entertainment leaders and social TV executives, including The Insider's Kevin Frazier, Nielsen's Michael Hess, Forrester Research's Elizabeth Shaw, A&E Television Networks' Dietrich von Behren, and more.
