TOLEDO, OH--(Marketwired - Oct 18, 2013) - On Saturday, October 19th, the University of Toledo will dedicate the first Rolling Thunder® collegiate POW/MIA Chair of Honor as a part of their pre-game activities to kick off their football game vs. Navy, which will be airing on ESPN News.
The University has installed this special seat in Section 1 of its legendary Glass Bowl football stadium. It will remain perpetually unoccupied in honor of the over 91,000 military service personnel who are or were prisoners of war (POW) or have been declared missing in action (MIA).
"It is a privilege to support Rolling Thunder's Chair of Honor Program by donating the first collegiate chair in the nation," said Tim Hussey, CEO of Hussey Seating. "The University of Toledo once again shows their strong heritage of supporting of our nation's military by leading the way in honoring the sacrifices made by our service men and women."
The concept for a permanently unoccupied POW/MIA seat in sports stadiums originated with Rolling Thunder's Massachusetts Chapter 1, dedicating similarly customized Hussey Seating stadium chairs in Gillette Stadium (Foxboro, MA) and TD Garden (Boston, MA). Rolling Thunder, best known for their annual "Ride to the Wall" event, is a nationwide POW/MIA rights organization. Hussey Seating Company, who is partnering with Rolling Thunder to provide the chairs for the National Chair of Honor program, donated the POW/MIA chair installed at University of Toledo's Glass Bowl.
