First Edition of Tremblant Alpine Touring Festival

Programme Oriented Towards Discovery

MONT-TREMBLANT, QC--(Marketwired - December 19, 2014) - Tremblant is hosting the very first edition of its Alpine Touring Festival his January 9 to 11, 2015. Neophytes and skilled skiers alike are invited to the resort to take part in clinics, equipment demos and tours, including a Night Crossing promising powerful memories. Treks are guided by experienced alpine touring enthusiasts, including event spokesperson Simon St-Arnaud, who is also known as L'Aventurier Alpin.

A sport that is currently in full expansion here in Québec, alpine touring is extremely well known across the tall peaks of Europe and Western North America. Climbing on skis fitted with skins and special bindings, ascents always lead skiers to a well deserved downhill run. "Alpine touring is not only an original alternative to slide sports -- it also promotes great fitness. Tremblant's Alpine Touring Festival is an invitation to discover and try the sport in a secure learning environment, or raise the bar further if you are an habitué," explains the event's spokesperson, Simon St-Arnaud.

Introductory Tours, Guided Treks and Night Crossing
Throughout this event, guides accompany visitors on free beginner tours (2hrs/mid-mountain), and on guided treks too (3hrs/summit). While enthusiasts must acquire a day pass to the alpine touring trails ($5.99), it is the ideal time to purchase a $29.95 alpine touring season pass since passholders also enjoy excellent discounts all weekend long. Feature deals include, among others, a 15% discount on all Boutique Explore! products and a 20% discount on alpine touring rental equipment. Saturday evening's Night Crossing promises to be a weekend highlight, with alpine skiers gathering at day's end to climb the mountain's South Side, and ski down the North Side to a Fondue Dinner & Conference. The group later travels back to the South pedestrian village by shuttle.

Demos, Workshops, Conferences & Sanctioned Races
A number of manufacturers will be onsite to present their newest gear -- Dynafit, Atomic, Black Diamond, Salomon, Scarpa, Burton, Peak Performance, Arc'teryx, Columbia, Merrell, Oakley and The North Face - and in some cases, encourage the curious to test their equipment. Visitors are welcome to attend workshops and conferences to better acquaint themselves with alpine touring techniques, while skilled alpine gurus are welcome to compete in two sanctioned races held Saturday and Sunday that include a 5,500-foot climb -- about three times the mountain's skiable vertical.
