MIAMI, FL and BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2014) - Kaptiva Sports, a leading soccer academy of the world's renowned FC Barcelona, today announced it reached an agreement with the club to take the partnership a step further and open the first ever FCBEscola in the United States. After seven years hosting FCBCamps in cities throughout the United States and training more than 10,000 kids within the events, Kaptiva Sports is considered one of the premier partners with the most experience organizing and handling Barça's soccer club program. The new FCBEscola Florida will be located in Lauderhill at the Central Broward Regional Park and will impart the training regime and methodology of the professional soccer club known the world over as Barça.
The FCBEscola Florida will be a soccer academy that will train boys and girls ages 6 to 13, with logistics and training support of the same youth coach of FC Barcelona in Spain. Tryouts for the first season will be held on Saturday, May 17 and organizers expect close to 1,000 hopefuls to be a part of the inauguration.
With South Florida riding high the wave of soccer fever, FCBEscola Florida should gain popularity among the booming Latino population, especially during a World Cup year. The popularity of soccer as a sport has been growing exponentially in the U.S. in the last few years, and FCBEscola Florida is looking to introduce the values and philosophy of Barça in the United States. The methodology and training style will be led from Barcelona, while the program will be directed and supervised by a Technical Director from the FCBEscola in Barcelona that will reside permanently in Florida. With the new FCBEscola, Kaptiva Sports hopes to bring a piece of Barça to the children of South Florida.
"After many years of offering the Barça training style at soccer camps in the U.S., we thought the time was perfect to establish a permanent home for our program," said Oriol Sala, President of Kaptiva Sports. "We are eager to begin this new chapter and make sports history in South Florida."
Central Broward Regional Park will be the home of the FCBEscola Florida, located at 3700 North West in Lauderhill, Florida. The state-of-the-art sports complex has two 11v11 natural grass soccer fields at the facilities. Tryouts for the first ever FCBEscola Florida will be held there on Saturday, May 17. Kaptiva Sports will also be hosting FCB camps at the same facility during the summer. The city of Ft. Lauderdale will see FC Barcelona action firsthand in the coming months, as the soccer academy kicks off this month.
