First Marblehead Plans Live Webcast of Investor and Analyst Day Event

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 6, 2007 -- The First Marblehead Corporation (NYSE: FMD) today confirmed that it will webcast its Annual Investor and Analyst Day on Monday, February 12, 2007. This year's agenda will focus on the Company's Securitization Program, including an in depth discussion of publicly available data and metrics related to past transactions, as well as a series of management presentations and a Q&A session on overall business activities.

The webcast will be segmented into two sessions. The first, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will cover management presentations. The second, from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., will cover the Company's Securitization Program. A replay will be available on the Company's website for 14 days.
