First Thursdays Art Walk -- January 6, 2011, 6 to 9 pm

A Creative Start to the New Year

LAGUNA BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - December 21, 2010) - Get 2011 off to a creative start by attending First Thursdays Art Walk on January 6th from 6 - 9pm. Stroll and trolley around the picturesque town of Laguna Beach on a self-guided tour enjoying gallery openings, artist demonstrations and receptions, live music and other entertainment and refreshments. The event is FREE to the public and so is the trolley service. An Art Walk brochure that includes a map and a complete schedule of all the evening's special events is available at any gallery.

"I encourage everyone to experience the Art Walk and be instantly immersed in the cultural art scene of Laguna Beach," said First Thursdays Art Walk president Rebecca Barber. She continued, "It's the New Year, why not start it out with new art!"

At many galleries artists will demonstrate their techniques and share their insights -- Annette Wimmer at Annette Wimmer Fine Art; resident plein air artists at Studio 7 Gallery; and Elizabeth McGhee at Studio Arts Gallery are a few. Preview an exhibition of "Artful Violins" created in support of the 9th annual Laguna Beach Music Festival and meet the artists who created them at Swenson Fine Art.

Art patrons are encouraged to visit all the featured galleries from Downtown to Gallery Row to Bluebird to Laguna Canyon Road, enhanced by performances by local musicians and gallery hospitality. Enjoy music and refreshments at SKYLAB Modern Art and the magical sounds of singer/songwriter Sam Curo at The Cottage Gallery. Be sure to visit the Laguna Art Museum featuring the work of John Paul Jones, Megan Hart Jones, Edwin Roscoe Shrader and Sean Duffy. Enjoy yogurt tastings while viewing photography by Stillman F. Sawyer, from the Festival of Arts permanent art collection, at foaSouth. Although not on the shuttle loop, visit Laguna College of Art + Design as they showcase "Visions of Paris and Venice" from the LCAD Europe trip.

Fine art can be a fine investment. Participating Art Walk galleries give you access to buy original artwork in every genre of art. Additional featured artists include: New works by renowned painter Nancy Bush at Dawson Cole; David Limirite and Gerald Basil Stripling at JoAnne Artman Gallery; Walli Schauer at Quorum Art Gallery; European artist Claudia Meyer at Marion Meyer Contemporary Art; and Andriy Halaashyn and Luis Cornejo at saltfineart.
