First Utility Joins Top 25 in Fast Track 100 Table

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 2, 2012) - First Utility (http://www.first-utility.com) recently placed 21st in the prestigious 2011 Virgin Fast Track 100 table. The UK's leading independent supplier of gas and electricity follows in the footsteps of fellow Fast Track 100 success stories Innocent Drinks, Carphone Warehouse and Ella's Kitchen.

Co-founder Darren Braham stated: "Making the Fast Track 100 is a real achievement for First Utility. We have worked hard to establish ourselves as the UK's leading independent energy supplier in a competitive market and during difficult economic times. To rank amongst the UK's top 25 fastest growing companies is a reflection on the success of our company over the last few years and the appetite for change in the UK's energy sector."

The Fast Track 100 compiles the 100 British privately-owned companies with the fastest-growing sales. First Utility placed 21st nationally, and 7th amongst all Midlands-based companies, as its sales grew at 115% a year from £6.1m in 2007 to £60.5m in 2011.

Today the company boasts over 60,000 domestic and small-business customers, and is now planning its next steps forward.

First Utility CEO Ian McCaig states: "There is a huge opportunity for First Utility to make a real and positive difference for consumers, both in terms of their control over their energy use and in reducing their bills. The next year will see us introduce new and better platforms to improve customer experience and launch a range of new services. I am particularly excited about our work with US-based energy efficiency company Opower, which will give people access to unique tools and information regarding their energy consumption and will empower them to make real changes to the way they use energy."
