Fish & Richardson Introduces New Program for Early-Stage Businesses

Acceleredge(R) Provides High-Quality, Packaged Legal Services at Fixed Cost

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 1, 2007 -- Fish & Richardson P.C. today announced the launch of a new program in Boston to help start-up and growth-stage companies to control their legal costs. Fish & Richardson's new Acceleredge® program offers bundled, fixed-price legal services designed to shorten young businesses' time to market and build their competitive edge.

"The cost of legal services can be overwhelming to many companies. We understand that early-stage businesses require special attention and creative fee arrangements that take into account their many financial demands," said Gene T. Barton, Jr., a Principal in Fish & Richardson's Venture & Technology Group in Boston. "Acceleredge provides partner-level representation in areas that set the foundation for a company's future success with no surprises in terms of costs."

Three packages, or units, are available. A company may purchase all units or access the units a la carte. Each unit reflects a specific need of young companies and offers a mix of critical services:

-- Unit 1: Corporate Formation and Intellectual Property Assessment.
Includes structuring and tax counsel, evaluation of technology and advice
on whether to patent, incorporation, and completion of formation and other
    documents.

-- Unit 2: Early-Stage Employment Matters. Includes counsel on start-up
employment issues of the client's choice and preparation or review of
    employment-related documents.

-- Unit 3: Trademark/Copyright Protection. Includes an initial database
screening covering U.S. and major foreign countries, a common law search,
and preparation and filing of a trademark application in one class of
    goods.

Acceleredge grew from Fish & Richardson's desire to better serve entrepreneurial companies. The technology space, in particular, is one in which today's start-up can develop into tomorrow's major corporate client. When the high tech business went into decline several years ago, many large law firms grew leery of partnering with technology-based start-ups. For Fish & Richardson, however, these companies represent the firm's future.

Acceleredge clients will benefit from Fish & Richardson's unique synthesis of corporate and technology law expertise. The firm's Venture & Technology Group is composed of business- and technology-savvy attorneys who work in tandem with the best and most experienced intellectual property attorneys in the country. As a result, Fish & Richardson's attorneys can provide clients with corporate advice that is informed by a deep understanding of intellectual property strategy, planning, and protection.

"By helping clients protect their intellectual property at an early stage, we can put them in a better position to seek early-stage financing, secure market exclusivity, capture competitive advantage, and position themselves for a successful exit," said Barton.

Founded in 1878 in Boston, Fish & Richardson is one of the largest law firms in the U.S. practicing exclusively in the areas of intellectual property, litigation, and corporate law. The firm has over 420 attorneys and technology specialists in 10 offices nationwide. Fish & Richardson has long represented great innovators and entrepreneurs, including pioneering inventors such as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, and the Wright Brothers. Fish & Richardson handles more patent litigation than any other law firm in the U.S. (IP Law & Business, July 2006) and was rated among the top firms in ITC patent litigation by that publication in June 2006. It also rates among the top U.S. firms in patents and trademarks obtained.
