Fish & Richardson Principal Betty Chen Appointed Global Hiring Principal


REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 14, 2016) - Fish & Richardson has announced that Betty Chen has been appointed Global Hiring Principal. Chen will be in charge of hiring legal talent for all 11 of Fish's U.S. offices, as well as its office in Munich, Germany. She previously served as recruiting principal of the firm's Silicon Valley office.

Chen is based in Fish's Silicon Valley office and has an extensive practice that spans all areas of intellectual property litigation and complex commercial litigation. She has substantial trial experience in patent litigation involving a myriad of technologies, particularly in the fields of computer software, computer hardware, medical devices, and consumer products. Chen has also successfully represented clients in trademark, copyright, licensing, trade secrets, contracts, and employment disputes.

Chen is also committed to giving back to the legal community by increasing mentorship and diversity within the profession. She serves on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Asian Law Alliance, co-chairs Fish's Silicon Valley Women's Initiative and serves on the firm's Diversity Committee. She is also the firm's 2016 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow. Furthermore, she is a Group Leader for litigation associates at Fish and provides both mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys through that role.

She received her J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in 2006 and her B.S. in business from the University of Southern California in 2003. Chen was a law clerk to the Honorable Ron Clark, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and a judicial intern for the Honorable William Wayne Justice, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. She is now a member of the planning committee for the Eastern District of Texas Bench and Bar Conference.
