Fisher Television Stations Earn Eight Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Broadcast Journalism; KOMO 4 Wins Overall Excellence Award

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - April 18, 2008) - Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI) announced today that the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Fisher television stations seven out of 13 regional Edward R. Murrow awards for excellence in broadcast journalism in the large market television category, and one award in the small market category.

KOMO 4 earned five awards, the most in the region, including the "Overall Excellence" award. "To say that I am proud of our journalists' outstanding work is an understatement," said KOMO Television VP/General Manager Jim Clayton. "We are all pleased that they were recognized by RTNDA for their great work."

KOMO 4's other awards included "Best Newscast" (KOMO 4 News at 6PM); "Investigative Reporting" (Problem Solvers/Risky Remedy); "Sports Reporting" (Mutton Busting); and "Writing" (John Sharify composite).

KOMO 4 News Director Holly Gauntt commented, "This is a huge testament to the great work this news staff does day-in and day-out bringing news to the viewers in Western Washington, especially when you consider the categories for which we were recognized."

KATU won two awards in the large market television category, including "Feature Hard News" (3:01 Ceremony) and "Videography" (3:01 Ceremony).

KIDK TV won the small television market category award for "Feature Hard News" (Camp-America: The Secret Trail to the US).

Having won the regional awards, each of these stations will now be considered for national recognition.

RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the highly prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971.
