Fisheries and Oceans Canada: Closed Area for Shellfish Harvesting North Shore

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 4, 2007) - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, wants to inform the North Shore population that the harvesting of shellfish is now forbidden due to toxicity (lack of samples), in accordance with the prohibition order mentioned below, and pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Management of Contaminated Fisheries Regulations, in the following shellfish areas:

Baie et havre des Belles Amours

The shore and waters of Baie and Havre des Belles Amours, from Pointe de l'Etang to Pointe Rocheuse.

The Department would like to remind that harvesting of shellfish is prohibited in any area within 125 meters of any port, wharf or marina in the Province of Quebec.
