The Government of Canada Supports the POP Montreal International Music Festival


MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 21, 2016) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $35,000 in funding for the 15th POP Montreal International Music Festival, which will take place from September 21 to 25, 2016.

This funding, provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, will help enriching the festival's lineup of concerts.

  • The POP Montréal International Music Festival, a non-profit annual cultural event, showcases, emerging and well-known independent artists from around the world.
  • For its 15th edition, the festival will present more than 450 groups and musicians who will perform at around 40 venues across Montréal.
  • In addition to concerts, POP Montréal offers a series of activities consisting of visual arts, films, children's entertainment and lectures.
  • Some performances will be offered free of charge at POP Quarters, the festival headquarters, at 3450 Saint-Urbain Street. Around 60,000 visitors are expected to attend.
