LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Jan 9, 2012) - Consumer Electronics Show -- Flingo, the leading publisher of applications for smart TVs, today launches one-click posting to Twitter and Facebook directly from smart TVs, making Social TV more available to everyone. Now, with just one click of the remote control, viewers can watch and share information, such as commentary about what they are watching, what TV programs they like and more, with friends in their social network.
This new functionality in Flingo's SyncApps platform takes Social TV to a whole new level of availability, engagement and ease-of-use. This capability will be featured on apps created for A+E Networks' HISTORY and A&E channels, and builds on Flingo's pre-existing media relationships with companies like TV Guide, CBS, Showtime, Warner Bros., FOX, and many others on platforms like Sanyo, Insignia, Samsung, LG, and Vizio.
Flingo's SyncApps technology is powered by the world's fastest automatic content recognition (ACR) platform, which comes pre-installed in millions of Internet-connected television products. Once activated by the viewer, Flingo's proprietary ACR technology can identify live broadcast TV content within a few seconds, much faster and more accurately than other ACR approaches using only the microphone on a smartphone. Once programming is identified, Flingo's SyncApps technology can immediately deliver contextually relevant content directly to the viewer's TV including check-ins, tweets, polls, quizzes, special offers and more.
For the first time, millions of friends and family members can converse about their favorite scenes with a simple click of the remote, regardless of location. SyncApps automatically hooks into the conversations being had on social networks and presents them to the viewer. For example, if a consumer is watching Pawn Stars on HISTORY, with just one-click he can see at-a-glance the #hashtag for the show, what's being tweeted, who else is watching it, and opt to join the conversation.
"Flingo is a remarkable innovator in the Social TV space and A+E Networks is excited to be a launch partner and offer SyncApps to our A&E and HISTORY audiences," said Dan Suratt, EVP, Digital Media and Business Development, A+E Networks. "We spend a lot of time exploring new opportunities to engage our audience and Flingo's one-click access to Facebook and Twitter from the TV's remote control makes Social TV very accessible to a broader segment of our audience."
"We're excited to be partnering with A+E Networks and their HISTORY and A&E channels," said Ashwin Navin, co-founder and CEO of Flingo. "Flingo has the resources to fingerprint every piece of content on TV and in home video. We have the reach to make every Smart TV much smarter, more personal, and more social using the power of SyncApps contextualization. ACR is the single most important technology available for the Smart TV market, and Flingo has the best solution to unlock its potential for broadcasters, advertisers, manufacturers, and most importantly, users."
Flingo will be demonstrating SyncApps and its other Smart TV capabilities in Las Vegas, NV at CES 2012 in booth number 74106 at the Venetian Titian Ballroom.
