Floodings: Beaconsfield holds fundraiser in support of victims


BEACONSFIELD, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 9, 2017) - Beaconsfield Council is launching a fundraising campaign to support the communities that are affected by the floodings.

Beaconsfield residents are invited to contribute to this special fundraiser by making a donation by Interac, credit card or cheque payable to the City of Beaconsfield. Tax receipts will be emitted for donations of $20 and more. Business hours at City Hall are Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The deadline for making a donation is Friday, June 16, 2017.

For its part, the City will double the amount raised by its residents up to a maximum of $20,000 to help the victims in all regions across Québec.

"The City of Beaconsfield wishes to show its solidarity with the municipalities hit by the spring floodings. We must stand together in such circumstances and be generous in our response to the people affected by this situation", states Georges Bourelle, Mayor of Beaconsfield.

Booth at B2K Bike Security Day

Citizens will be able to make a donation for the flood victims on Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Windermere Park on 303, Sherbrooke. Municipal employees will be on site with a booth dedicated for this purpose.

It is also possible to contribute online to the Red Cross fundraising campaign for flood victims at croixrouge.ca .
