Florida Attorney General Joins Innovative Zimek® Technologies to Reveal New Strategies for Bio-Terrorism Preparedness

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - June 9, 2010) -  Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum joined Tampa, Fla. industry leader and decontamination company Zimek Technologies along with Central Florida Fire Chief John Williamson during a special press conference today in Winter Garden, Fla. to jointly announce important homeland security initiatives and key bio-terrorism preparedness. Two leading innovators of technology using anthrax abatement who participated were Joe Mantilla, VP of Corporate Affairs of Zimek® Technologies and Brian Larson, CEO of sBioMed® of Orem, Utah.

"As we've all been reminded recently, the threat of terrorism on American soil has not abated. Law enforcement and first responders, on the front lines of America's homeland security, need every tool at their disposal to respond should another attack happen," said McCollum.

"Two innovators in the field -- Zimek Technologies and sBioMed -- have teamed up to provide Florida and the nation with this vital homeland security biological capability to kill anthrax," McCollum added. "This partnership is beneficial for first responders nationwide, but also for Florida because supporting Zimek with this new market capability will allow the company to grow, hire more employees and help stimulate Florida's job growth."

Zimek® Technologies has been developing and marketing its patented automatic Micro-Mist™ decontamination technologies for more than five years. Zimek's industry-leading technologies are used by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Fire and EMS departments, healthcare facilities, public health agencies, transit systems, correctional facilities and local law enforcement agencies across America. Zimek® Technologies also provides ongoing decontamination services to the Department of Homeland Security including protection for President Obama at the Mt. Weather, Virginia Bio-Terrorism Presidential Bunker.

"In addition to our current capability of remediating deadly infectious pathogens such as MRSA, acinetobacter and tuberculosis, the use of STERIPLEX® Ultra sporicide with Zimek's revolutionary Touch-Free™ Micro-Mist™ Decontamination Systems add a critical sporicidal capability to the arsenal used by military personnel and first responders to destroy anthrax spores," said Joe Mantilla, VP of Corporate Affairs at Zimek.

sBioMed® developed STERIPLEX® Ultra to effectively destroy anthrax spores -- the world's deadliest biological agent -- for product users such as military personnel and first responders when responding to biological attacks.
