Florida Homestead Law Group Encourages Clients to Take Advantage of Florida's Mediation Program

Florida Loan Modifications Are on the Rise as Mediation Cases Continue

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - Apr 14, 2011) - Florida Homestead Law Group continues to help save struggling homeowners from foreclosure by enforcing Florida's Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation (RMFM) Program.

Established by the Florida Supreme Court to lessen the rate of foreclosures, the Florida mediation program does not force lenders to agree to a renegotiation, but it does give the homeowner advantages to consider over bankruptcy.

"This program is allowing us to help our clients partake in successful agreements with their banks," Scott Podvin, Lead Attorney for Florida Homestead Law Group said. "With this program, we are giving our clients the right to meet with their banks face-to-face, rather than simply faxing documents to a massive call center."

As a result of the program, the agreements that clients are securing are helping to change their interest rates, reduce their mortgage payments and/or extend the term of their loan. Once a settlement is reached, the attorneys work to ensure the lender holds up their end of their obligation.

According to the recent article "Foreclosure Fears Eased by New Program" from NBC Miami, "In the first month the program started 258 families participated, last month over 4,000 did. In all, more than 2,000 families have been able to save their homes by striking a deal with their bank to make their monthly payments more affordable."

"By taking advantage of this program, homeowners are finding hope in their once hopeless foreclosure situations," Podvin said. "Cases are being resolved faster, and families are staying in their homes."
