Florida Senate Majority Leader Bill Galvano to Discuss Seminole Compact, Future of Gaming in Keynote Address at Florida Gaming Congress, January 6-7, 2016

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2015) - Senator Bill Galvano of the Florida Senate will deliver the Luncheon Keynote Address at the Florida Gaming Congress on January 7 at the Rosen Shingle Creek resort in Orlando, FL.

Elected to the Florida Senate in 2012, and reelected subsequently, Sen. Galvano, R-Bradenton, was appointed the majority leader of the Florida Senate for the 2014-16 legislative term in November, 2014.

"Sen. Galvano's speech -- as well as the entire Florida Gaming Congress -- comes at a particularly critical time," said Marc Dunbar, Partner who specializes in gaming law in Jones Walker LLP's Tallahassee office. "Gov. Rick Scott has just signed a compact that, if approved by the Legislature and the Secretary of the Interior, would generate $3 billion in revenue for the state over seven years. That, and other issues confronting Florida, requires critical thinking and analysis from a wide range of knowledgeable stakeholders. That is what the Florida Gaming Congress is designed to provide." Jones Walker, one of Florida's most prominent law firms, is the presenting sponsor of the 2016 Florida Gaming Congress.

The Florida Gaming Congress, the premier forum for professionals following the state's evolving gaming industry, is a must-attend event for corporate executives, gaming operators, elected officials, regulators, vendors, developers, investors, analysts, and anyone else who seeks a greater understanding of the status and outlook of all gaming-related activity in the state. The Florida Gaming Congress provides outstanding opportunities for networking, professional development and business-to-business discussions.

The two-day event begins with an evening cocktail reception on January 6, followed by a full-day of in-depth seminars with networking opportunities. Session topics include:

  • Florida Lottery: A Look to the Future
  • Gaming and Pari-Mutuel Outlook
  • Gaming in Florida: The Wall Street Perspective
  • Gaming Legislative and Policy Update
  • Sports and Gaming: What's Legal, What's Not

This year, the Florida Gaming Congress will be immediately followed by the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) Winter Meeting, January 8-10, also at the Rosen Shingle Creek. NCLGS is a non-partisan, multi-state forum where gaming industry professionals and legislators can put forth ideas and garner national recognition for current and future gaming policy issues. Florida Gaming Congress attendees who also register for NCLGS will receive a $100 discount off their NCLGS registration fee.
