Florida's Crystal River Nuclear to Continue Costly Repairs, Plans to Restart in 2014, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - Jun 29, 2011) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Progress Energy Incorporated (NYSE:PGN) (Raleigh, North Carolina) announced this week that a decision has been made to continue the costly repairs on the problematic 838-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 of the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant in Citrus County, Florida. Progress Energy has informed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of the plan and has estimated the cost for removing and replacing the damaged concrete containment structure to be between $900 million and $1.3 billion.
