FOCUS Enhancements and JVC Demonstrate High Definition Video Workflow Solutions at NAB

24p HDV-Specific Demos Highlight JVC's New GY-HD100U ProHD Camcorder, Avid Xpress Pro HD Editing System and FOCUS Enhancements FireStore Portable DTE Recorders

CAMPBELL, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 18, 2005 -- FOCUS Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology, today announced that it is spotlighting HD (High Definition) production solutions with Avid Technology, Inc. and JVC Professional Products Company for video professionals at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas. Each company will demonstrate various stages of enhanced video workflow, including acquisition, editing, and distribution centered on FOCUS Enhancements' FireStore portable Direct To Edit (DTE) disk recorders. In addition, FOCUS Enhancements' HD workflow demonstration will feature JVC's brand new GY-HD100U ProHD camcorder and the Avid Xpress® Pro HD editing system.

FOCUS Enhancements will be showcasing a technology demonstration of its portable DTE recorder supporting the Avid Xpress Pro HD editing application. The demo will show how media professionals can use an HDV-based camcorder, such as the JVC GY-HD100U, to record to disk in either the Avid MXF-based 720p or 1080i MPEG2 file format, and then edit the media with Avid Xpress Pro HD software. When finished, users simply connect the FireStore portable DTE recorder to their computers and use an Avid Xpress Pro HD system to instantly edit in the timeline without having to first capture, transfer or convert their video -- maintaining an HD format throughout the entire production process. This new FireStore technology is ideal for all HD-driven field applications including independent film, wedding and events, and sports.

"HDV is in the spotlight at this year's NAB. This exciting showcase is a must-see for any creative broadcast and video professional looking for a complete, innovative HD solution," said Robert Mueller, executive vice president and COO at JVC. "We are thrilled to debut the highly anticipated JVC GY-HD100U at the show because it combines the benefits of JVC's ProHD approach with the polished film look of 24p. Users who combine FOCUS Enhancements' innovative portable DTE recorder technology and the industry-standard Avid Xpress Pro HD editing application will have a true, native HD video production solution from acquisition and editing to broadcast or distribution -- saving an unbelievable amount of time without having to first capture or convert the video."

"The video industry is experiencing phenomenal growth in HD footage and broadcast. Companies such as JVC and Avid are focused on delivering the solutions creative professionals need to deliver content," said Brett Moyer, president and chief executive officer for FOCUS Enhancements. "Tapeless acquisition is quickly becoming accepted as the standard in broadcast production, and with our DTE technology, video professionals can shoot native, drop-out-free HD video and go straight to editing. We're streamlining the entire process, which means no time-consuming conversion before the user can begin working -- the user can just plug in and edit in real-time, staying in 720p24 the whole way through."

The new JVC GY-HD100U is the world's first compact ProHD high definition 3-CCD camcorder with interchangeable lenses and will make its debut at NAB. Its three Progressive Scan CCD's are one-third inch in size, each containing 1.1 megapixels. Using the HDV format , the GY-HD100 will record native 720p24, 720p30, 480i and 480p with 1080i playback. JVC is in Booth #C4526.

FOCUS Enhancements will showcase its full line of "glass-to-glass" video production workflow products at NAB in Booths #SL505 and #SL4255E. FireStore FS-4 HD, and FS-4Pro HD are expected to be available in the Summer of 2005 through the worldwide FOCUS Enhancements dealer and distributor network.
