Focus Enhancements Supports Next Generation HD Format, Joins AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) Group

New HD Digital Video Camera Recorder Format Introduced by Sony and Panasonic Is Designed for the HD Era

CAMPBELL, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 18, 2007 -- Focus Enhancements, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in media acquisition, management and delivery technology, today announced support for the new AVCHD Digital Video Camera format.

The AVCHD format allows for the recording and playback of high-resolution digital HD images. AVCHD is an HD digital video camera format for recording 1080i*(1) and 720p*(2) signals by using highly efficient codec technologies. The format employs MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression, and Dolby Digital (AC-3) or Linear PCM for audio codec. Panasonic and Sony announced basic specifications for AVCHD in May of 2006.

"We are currently looking into broadly supporting AVCHD with our media acquisition, conversion, management, and delivery products," said Michael Conway, senior vice president of business development and strategy for Focus Enhancements. "We are excited that AVCHD will offer higher quality, more efficient HD Video, and we expect that this format will ultimately work seamlessly within our Direct to Edit (DTE) workflow and media asset management solutions."

AVCHD is a powerful team of consumer electronics manufacturers including Panasonic, Sony, Canon, Pioneer, and Samsung. AVCHD will also be implemented into playback appliances and PC software in addition to video cameras. This will allow users to shoot high definition footage and play them back or edit them on a wide range of products.
