Follett Searches for Marketing Genius With Million Dollar Idea

Follett Higher Education Group Invites Students to Bring Forth Their Most Compelling Marketing Strategies for the Chance to Win Paid Summer Internship


OAK BROOK, IL--(Marketwire - January 26, 2011) - Follett Higher Education Group is on a nation-wide search for the next marketing genius. The company is offering college students the opportunity to create a national, million-dollar marketing campaign for its network of campus bookstores through its new Marketing Genius Competition. The student team that submits the most compelling campaign will be offered a paid summer internship with the Integrated Marketing department at Follett's corporate headquarters in Chicago, where they will live in free housing and work to bring their campaign to life.

Follett's Marketing Geniuses will submit campaigns that stress the benefits of course material choices at Follett bookstores, including new and used books, textbook rentals and digital formats. Follett will look for programs that are executable across Follett-owned college bookstores and include both traditional media, as well as new, innovative ways of communicating with students in unexpected ways. 

The program has already generated significant attention at universities throughout the United States and Canada with more than 50 campuses currently competing for the chance at title of Marketing Genius and a paid summer internship with free housing. 

Contest Details
Student teams must submit their intent to participate in the program by February 5, 2011 via Follett's Marketing Genius website. Completed marketing proposals are due March 26. Teams that qualify for the presentation round will be notified and flown to Chicago on April 25 to present to a panel of judges made up of marketing professionals from Follett Higher Education Group and its public relations and advertising agencies. 

Immediately following the presentations, Follett's Marketing Geniuses will be announced.
