Food Recall New Audio Clip Service

Canadian Food Inspection Agency launches new audio clip service for broadcasters Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor OTTAWA ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 13, 2005) - Broadcast-quality radio clips are now available on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) website. The clips are designed as a handy tool for radio reporters covering breaking stories about food recalls.

Radio reaches many people quickly. When CFIA issues a public food recall alert, radio is there to immediately warn listeners against eating a potentially unsafe product. Consumers may avoid serious illness as a result. CFIA=s Radio Clips service supports this important broadcast role and is a time-saver for busy reporters.

The clips are in MP3 format and 500K file sizes and can be easily downloaded. They cover a wide variety of recurring, newsworthy topics, including causes of foodborne illness and potentially harmful allergens.

Quick, simple and free

Food recall alerts are regularly distributed by e-mail to radio newsrooms. Just click on the Radio Clips link at the top of the e-mail and find a selection of short, interview-style audio statements by our food safety experts. All spokespersons are identified, all clips are for attribution.

The clips are also accessible anytime by going directly to the CFIA website at www.inspection.gc.ca, and using either of the following steps:
1- Click on Newsroom. Click on Radio Clips.
2- Or, click on Food Recalls/Allergy Alerts. Click on the specific alert. Click on the Radio Clips link at the bottom.

Fresh clips will be posted on a regular basis and cover other agency story topics. CFIA Media Relations encourages radio media to use the new service.
