Foodies and Families Celebrate Thanksgiving at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation

From Cooking Classes to a Celebrity Chef-Inspired Challenge, the Georgia Resort Unlocks the Secrets to the Perfect Holiday Meal

GREENSBORO, GA--(Marketwired - Nov 18, 2013) - While the holidays are about family, there is one thing that brings everyone to the table -- literally. From slicing into a golden turkey to serving slices of warm pie, food is at the center of the holiday season, and The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation is hosting a calendar of events that will have guests returning for a second helping.

Throughout November, the Lobby Lounge will feature ginger-spiced cocktails and gingerbread bites, highlighting one of the most popular spices of the season. For those who want to learn how to incorporate ginger and other seasonal spices into their holiday meal, the chefs at the luxury lakeside hotel will share their tips and recipes with Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice cooking classes. Classes are held Saturday, November 23 and 30 at 2pm and include food tastings and a glass of wine. Classes are $20 per person and can be reserved by calling 706-467-7059.

Those who would rather leave the cooking to the experts can enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving Day Brunch on the 28th, featuring the Lake Oconee resort's annual Celebrity Chef-inspired competition inspired by the popular television program. The three-course culinary competition between chefs Fabio Capparelli of Linger Longer Steakhouse and Chris Heath from Gaby's by the Lake will be judged by three lucky guest diners. While things heat up in the competition, diners will enjoy a lavish buffet with a luxurious caviar table; raw bar featuring crab claws, jumbo shrimp and Atlantic oysters on the half shell; traditional breakfast items; Thanksgiving favorites including sage orange-roasted turkey, brown sugar-baked ham, cornbread stuffing and sweet potato tarts; and desserts including homemade pies, tarts and tortes. The brunch, served from 10:30am to 2:45pm in the Grand Ballroom, is available for $72 for adults and $37 for children, exclusive of tax and gratuity. To reserve a table, please call 706-467-7059.

For most, the post-Thanksgiving meal tradition usually includes time on the sofa, but for guests of The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, there is a more active and fun option. On the 24th, the resort reopens its beautiful Ice Rink at the Pavilion, where resort guests enjoy complimentary skating. The rink is open daily from 10am to 2pm and 4 to 8pm through February 16, 2014. Local residents and guests of nearby properties are also welcome for $30 adults and $20 ages 12 and under.
