For the 5th Consecutive Year, Quebecor Supports Art souterrain and This Year Presents Two Works by Patrick Beaulieu

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 18, 2014) - Quebecor is proud to support Art souterrain as a major sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. From March 1 to 16, Art souterrain will trace a 7-km art trail through the heart of Montréal's underground city and organize a wide-ranging program of activities. Quebecor has been backing the cultural event for five years with a large-scale promotional campaign in its various media outlets and financial contributions. As part of Art souterrain, Quebecor will present two works by multidisciplinary artist Patrick Beaulieu, la fondamentale and cluster, at its head office art gallery and will also open the exhibition to the public for Nuit blanche on March 1, starting at 6 p.m.

"We feel very proud and indeed privileged to support an organization that showcases Québec's contemporary artists and art scene," said Robert Dépatie, President and CEO of Quebecor. "Our commitment to supporting visual artists and bringing a variety of art forms to the public is part and parcel of what we do every day."

Quebecor supports many museums and visual arts organizations and events in Québec, including the Board of Montréal Museum Directors, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

Patrick Beaulieu's work

Multidisciplinary artist Patrick Beaulieu graduated from UQAM with a degree in visual arts. His installations, photographs and sculptures typically incorporate or allude to fragments of nature. The world of objects is never at rest in Beaulieu's work: his sculptures and images in motion foreground the uncertainty and permutability of things, exploring and questioning possible states of matter.

Patrick Beaulieu has been an artist in residence at a number of institutions in Canada and abroad, including Mexico, France and Belgium. His work has been recognized by the Canada Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for more than 15 years. It is represented in public and private collections and displayed in various public spaces and buildings in Québec.
