Forbes & Manhattan Coal Strengthens Management Team

Appoints Experienced General Manager

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 27, 2011) - Forbes & Manhattan (Coal) Corp. (TSX:FMC) ("Forbes Coal" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it appointed Frans Knox as General Manager of its Slater Coal operations, based in Dundee, Kwazulu-Natal, effective July 4, 2011.

He brings more than 20 years coal mining experience to Forbes Coal, most recently from BHP Billiton and further strengthens the technical and strategic capabilities of our current management team. Mr. Knox's ability to optimize coal mine production and expansion will provide a valuable addition to the Company as we continue to ramp up operations at the Magdalena and Aveimore mines," President and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Theron commented.

Previously, Mr. Knox was with BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa ("BECSA"), where he was the General Manager at several of their coal operations and was a member of the leadership team. He has been instrumental in various turnaround strategies and has substantial experience with optimizing medium to large coal mines. He was also a member of various Project Steering Committees for BECSA and former Project Director of BECSA's Organizational Effectiveness programme. Prior to BHP, Mr. Knox held various positions at Sasol including Shaft Manager at their Brandspruit operations.

Mr. Knox has degrees in Mechanical and Mining Engineering, and holds a valid Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in Coal.
