Former Cognos Executive Renee Lorton Appointed to CEO at Centrifuge Systems, Inc

MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwire - Apr 18, 2011) - Centrifuge® Systems, Inc., a leading provider of interactive data visualization technology and a pioneer in sophisticated link analysis, announced today that industry veteran Renee Lorton has been named as Chief Executive Officer. Concurrently, Centrifuge Systems announced that it has raised an additional $2 million in Series A financing by Novak Biddle Venture Partners.

Ms Lorton, who brings more than 20 years of software industry experience, has worked with some of the most successful brands in the sector. Most recently, Ms. Lorton served as Senior Vice President at Cognos, Inc., SVP and General Manager at Peoplesoft, Inc, and as Global CIO at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She was a member of the Senior Management Team at PeopleSoft and Executive Management team at Cognos. Her expertise in business intelligence and performance management combined with her proven leadership will be applied as Centrifuge expands its footprint in key markets. Ms. Lorton served as an Advisor to Centrifuge Systems for the last three years.

"The world of analytics is fundamentally changing as sophistic visual tools such as link analysis and discovery-based analytics become mainstream," says Lorton. "Centrifuge is at the forefront of this revolution. Today, the Centrifuge pure web technology can easily grab terabytes of data from the cloud and present meaningful visuals to the end user. This dynamic of reducing massive amounts of data to a single view is what next generation visual analytics is all about.

Centrifuge Systems' proven technology has been helping our country's Intelligence Community in its missions to defend against terrorism, fraud, and cybercrime for years. I am very proud to be a part of the important work Centrifuge is doing with our government and I am thrilled to be part of the Centrifuge team as we explore new markets and deliver on the vision of visual analytics."

In addition to their recent $2 million investment, Centrifuge raised $4.5 million in Series A funding from Novak-Biddle Venture Partners (NBVP) in early 2007. Sustained growth in 2010 and recent investments from Novak Biddle pave the way for expansion across all departments of Centrifuge.

"Novak Biddle has been working with Renee Lorton throughout her tenure as Advisor to Centrifuge," said Roger Novak, General Partner at Novak Biddle. "The demand for advanced data visualization technology in government and commercial sectors is growing rapidly as the volume and velocity of data increases. We believe Renee's experience in both early stage and enterprise companies is perfectly suited for Centrifuge. We are extremely pleased Renee Lorton has joined our team as CEO."

Earlier in her career, Ms. Lorton was CEO and founder of TaxLAB, a start-up that pioneered the automation of PC-based tax applications. She has been twice recognized as one of the most influential people in finance and is regarded a thought leader and industry spokesperson on corporate compliance and IT governance technology. She holds a Master's degree from Georgetown University, Bachelor's degree from Purdue University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
