CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 22, 2012) - Field Law, a regional law firm with offices in Calgary and Edmonton as well as Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, is pleased to announce the return of a former prominent lawyer.

Terrence (Terry) F. McMahon, Q.C., recently retired from the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, is returning to Field Law's Calgary office as Senior Counsel. The Field team is eager to welcome him back to the firm and bringing years of experience with him as an advocate and judge.

"We're honoured Mr. McMahon chose to return and we look forward to leveraging his wealth of experience as an advocate and a judge to further enhance the success of our firm," says James T. Casey Q.C., Managing Partner. "He will be a great asset to our clients and a remarkable role model for our young lawyers."

Prior to being appointed to the Bench in 1992, Terry McMahon was an integral part of Field Law's history and evolution, practicing out of the Calgary office for 30 years. In his new returning role as Senior Counsel, he will establish an independent mediation and commercial arbitration practice and will be a member of Field Law's Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Group. Additionally, he will be applying his years of experience to actively mentor and guide Field lawyers in the areas of written and oral advocacy.

"I spent my entire career as a lawyer at the law firm which is now Field Law and learned much from the fine lawyers then in the firm," says Terry. "I feel privileged to return the favour and have the opportunity to engage new clients and empower young lawyers."

Community engagement is not only a top priority for Field Law, but also for Terry. He has served in leadership roles for an extensive range of professional and community organizations, including: President of the Law Society of Alberta; President of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch; President of the Calgary Bar Association; Director of the Legal Aid Society; Director and President of the Rotary Club of Calgary; Associate Director of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede; and Committee Chairman for the United Way Campaign.
