CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) - Saama Technologies, a leading business intelligence solution provider, today announced that Amar Karvir has joined the company as vice president of Saama India operations. In this role, Karvir is responsible for managing the firm's Pune-based development and delivery operations, with a focus on supporting the growth of the company's core service and intellectual property (IP)-based solutions.
A former vice president of operations for global IT solutions leader MindTree in Bangalore, Karvir brings nearly 15 years of global experience in the IT services space with a focus on setting up and managing offshore development and delivery business units. Most recently, he served as the Pune delivery center head, where he managed more than 700 employees and successfully grew revenue by 40% within the first year.
Prior to MindTree, Karvir served as vice president at Monitor Group, a global management consulting firm, where he set up and headed the company's Mumbai offshore development center, leading both the technology and human resources which supported Monitor's core internal technology and high-end back-office solution offerings.

Karvir began his career as a consultant for Deloitte in the US in the mid 90s, where he spent seven years focused on leading and managing teams supporting clients' large-scale custom application development engagements. He was later promoted to vice president and practice leader for Deloitte's offshore development center in Mumbai where, in less than three years, he grew annual revenue for his practice to more than $16 million with a team of 500 employees.
Karvir earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology from IIT Bombay and a MBA from the University of Maryland. He is a recipient of the National Talent Search (NTS) Scholarship awarded by the Government of India.
