Fort Collins, Colorado Launches Accela Automation as Its New Enterprise E-Government Solution

City Completes Upgrade From Client/Server Permit System to Web-Based Enterprise Solution

SAN RAMON, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 22, 2007 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, today announced that Fort Collins, Colorado has launched Accela Automation® as the city's new enterprise land management and licensing system. The Web-based solution empowers employees in the Building and Zoning and Community Planning departments to manage permitting, inspection, plan review, code enforcement, and other activities related to community development through one centralized database, improving inter-departmental communications and streamlining processes.

Fort Collins had been using an Accela solution, 'PERMITS' Plus®, for the past seven years to automate its permitting activities. Accela Automation now offers the city an enterprise solution that is flexible enough to meet the needs of multiple departments and can expand as the community continues to grow.

"The upgrade to Accela Automation holds the key to improving our ability to deliver services to our citizens," said Dan Coldiron, application services director at Fort Collins. "By providing the city with an enterprise solution that inter-connects our core land management activities under a central database, we can be more effective and efficient in responding to their needs."

Additional Accela solutions support the city's goals to streamline operations and improve customer service:

Accela GIS™ provides automated maps from a central database and gives staff direct access to view geographical representations of all land-use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with a parcel, permit, inspection, or plan. Built on the ArcIMS™ platform by ESRI®, Accela GIS seamlessly integrates with Accela Automation to provide automated map analysis and enable sharing information with the public.

Accela Wireless™ mobile government software application extends inspection management capabilities to the field for inspections, code enforcement, work orders, and service requests. Optimized for Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology, Accela Wireless is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems.

Accela Citizen Access™ provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to the city's permit and land management activities. Online permit applications allow citizens and businesses access to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print an approved permit directly from the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Accela Service Request™ automates and manages interdepartmental or citizen requests for service, complaints, or inquiries, including making real-time information about the status of a request accessible on demand.

"Fort Collins is one of a number of jurisdictions who are upgrading their IT systems to take advantage of leading, Web-based technologies," said Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO.
