Fortify Software Selects Xsigo Virtual I/O Over Cisco Nexus for Performance, Scalability

Software Security Firm Picks Xsigo Virtual I/O to Reduce Costs, Streamline Management of Its Growing VMware Deployment

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - March 16, 2010) - Xsigo Systems, the leader in data center I/O virtualization, today announced that Fortify Software, the market leader in Software Security Assurance solutions, has successfully deployed Xsigo virtual I/O to reduce server I/O capital and operational expenses by 40% in their recent virtualized server expansion project. After evaluating competitive products, including Cisco Nexus, the company selected Xsigo virtual I/O for its performance, scalability, and broad interoperability.

"We recognized the need for virtual I/O to help support the rapid growth of our software-as-a-service and internal IT requirements," said Shashi Dookhee, Director of IT at Fortify Software. "Xsigo's on-the-fly I/O management, high-bandwidth and integration with VMware offered the most capable virtual I/O solution in our view -- and delivered more performance and scalability than the Cisco alternative. We have been up and running with Xsigo for nearly six months now and have been very satisfied with our decision."

Fortify Software selected Xsigo to provide server and storage connectivity to the company's growing virtualization deployment, which currently includes 40 virtualized servers running over 500 virtual machines on VMware software. With Xsigo, the company was able to reduce server I/O capital costs 50% by consolidating host adapters, cables, and switch ports. Xsigo's remote management capabilities also helped reduce operational expenses by minimizing the number of required visits to the company's remote data centers.

"Xsigo virtual I/O provided the operational efficiency and simplicity we needed to manage our growing IT shop with our existing staff," Dookhee continued. "The management flexibility is what really impressed us."

Xsigo virtual I/O, honored as a Finalist in the Hardware Virtualization category in the Best of Show Awards at VMworld 2009, eliminates the myriad of cards and cables typically associated with server I/O, replacing them with a wire-once infrastructure and virtual NICs and HBAs that allow redundant connections to be configured on-the-fly, without server downtime.

"Fortify Software first saw the need for virtual I/O and then did their diligence to find the best solution," said Erik Hardy, Xsigo's vice president of worldwide field operations. "We are very pleased they recognized the value and management simplicity that our products bring and selected Xsigo over the competitive offerings. We look forward to providing them continued support and helping them to cost-effectively expand their virtualization deployment."
