Fortinet and AlterPoint Partner to Deliver Advanced Management Solutions for Enterprise Network Security

AlterPoint Joins Fortinet Global Alliance Program; Collaboration Reduces Management Complexity in Heterogeneous Network Environments

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - March 25, 2008) - Fortinet®, the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, today announced a global alliance with AlterPoint, Inc., a leading provider of open network management software, to help enterprises and managed security service providers deploy large-scale Fortinet installations while ensuring high levels of reliability and manageability.

Through the partnership, it is intended that Fortinet's FortiGate™ multi-threat security platform will be integrated with NetworkAuthority, AlterPoint's network automation, change and configuration management solution. This integrated approach enables customers to accelerate and simplify the management of Fortinet device implementations in multi-vendor environments with more than 500 networking components. Fortinet and AlterPoint have recently completed extensive certification and testing to ensure solution interoperability.

As part of this partnership, AlterPoint becomes a member of Fortinet's Global Alliance Program, which is an ecosystem of network equipment manufacturers, consultancy firms, service providers, global system integrators and other technology firms that complement and extend Fortinet's UTM solutions for protecting customers against current and future threats. With its strong presence in the Americas and Asian network management markets, AlterPoint plays a key role in supporting Fortinet's goals for worldwide coverage and expansion.

"Market adoption for UTM solutions continues to increase as businesses of all sizes realize the security, operational and cost benefits of consolidating critical security functions into an appliance," said Anthony James, vice president of products for Fortinet. "Through collaboration with AlterPoint, we can now offer customers a comprehensive device management solution that complements and extends our FortiManager™ offering, and provides the scalability and flexibility necessary to support large and diverse networking environments."

The Fortinet-AlterPoint collaboration is intended to provide the following benefits:

-- Scalability: consolidates network analytics, device configuration,
administration and reporting across networks with thousands of Fortinet
    devices.

-- Automation: streamlines OS pushes, configuration provisioning and
password changes across Fortinet devices, as well as device discovery,
    backup and software image storage.

-- Policy-based Governance: ensures that all Fortinet network device
configurations adhere to internal standards and external regulatory
    requirements.

-- Multi-vendor Support: enables Fortinet devices to be managed and
deployed in multi-vendor network infrastructures; also supports integration
with network configuration, change, fault and performance management
products from HP, Cisco, IBM, EMC and BMC.

"As UTM continues to grow, so does the challenge of implementing and managing large-scale device deployments within complex customer environments," said Scott Harmon, chief executive officer, AlterPoint. "The pairing of AlterPoint's NetworkAuthority solution with Fortinet's FortiGate platform provides significant value and competitive edge to enterprises and managed security service providers who want to increase the protection and compliance of business-critical networking assets."
