Fortinet Completes Requirements for IPv6 Certification on FortiOS 3.0 Firmware

Product Achieves Phase-2 IPv6 Ready Logo Certification

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - February 25, 2008) - Fortinet® -- a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced that a release of its FortiOS™ 3.0 firmware has successfully fulfilled all requirements for IPv6 Phase-2 Core Support as a router product. This certification, awarded by the IPv6 Ready Logo Program, demonstrates that Fortinet has developed the critical base support for IPv6 that will allow the company to meet the growing demands of government agencies and enterprises that require IPv6-capable UTM multi-threat security appliances.

The IPv6 Ready Logo program provides rigorous testing of products to validate the interoperability of IPv6 products. Phase-2 is currently the highest level of certification that the Ready Logo Program provides. This certification is only awarded to IPv6-capable products that pass 100 percent of the 450 appropriate conformance and interoperability test assertions.

Government agencies throughout the world are requiring support for IPv6 by 2008 and the U.S. government is mandating a June 2008 deadline to comply with an Office of Management and Budget requirement to enable IPv6 on its Federal networks. As the successor to IPv4, the main feature of IPv6 that is driving adoption today is the larger address space: 128 bits long versus 32 bits. Fortinet's achievement of IPv6 certification allows government agencies to successfully deploy Fortinet products while ensuring that government regulations are being met.

Fortinet's FortiOS 3.0 firmware, which is standard within its family of FortiGate security appliances, delivers an advanced security and management platform through the integration with its FortiAnalyzer™ and FortiManager™ systems -- providing increased network protection with advanced provisioning, reporting, logging, alerts and event correlation for all of Fortinet's security products. The integration with FortiManager enables centralized management for all FortiGate™ security appliances and FortiAnalyzer systems for intelligent security analysis, event correlation, logging and reporting.

"With U.S. government agencies soon mandated to comply with IPv6 requirements, it is critical that they have access to certified networking and security technologies upon which they can rely to interoperate within their networks," said Jeff Lake, vice president of Federal operations at Fortinet. "This internal version of our FortiOS 3.0 firmware will serve as the basis for further development of solutions that will meet the critical needs and regulation requirements of these government agencies."

In addition to this IPv6 certification, Fortinet's FortiOS 3.0 and specific FortiGate multi-threat security appliance models have been certified to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 2. Although already Common Criteria EAL4+ certified by NIAP, Fortinet is also undergoing extensive critical federal evaluations and certifications to meet the highest government agency information assurance requirements possible with Common Criteria MR V2.0.
