Fortinet Provides Advanced Network Security to One of the Nation's Largest Law Firms

Fish & Richardson Enhances and Consolidates Its Network Security and Reporting With Fortinet's FortiGate and FortiAnalyzer Systems

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 5, 2007) - Fortinet® -- a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced that Fish & Richardson, one of the largest law firms in the U.S. specializing in intellectual property, litigation and corporate law, has selected a comprehensive security platform from Fortinet to provide real-time network protection to its 11 nationwide offices and help safeguard communications for the company's more than 1,500 users.

Fish & Richardson was looking to upgrade the security of their network perimeter to include anti-virus scanning and Web content filtering. In order to minimize the administration for the 11 Internet gateways, the IT department was looking for an integrated single-appliance network security solution that consolidated all of the required feature-sets and included reporting. Working with reseller and integrator FishNet Security, Fish & Richardson selected Fortinet's FortiGate™-400A and FortiGate-500A enterprise-class security appliances for their performance, ease of manageability and integrated functionality. Fish & Richardson also purchased Fortinet's FortiAnalyzer™-2000 logging, reporting and analysis appliance to easily aggregate, analyze and report on nationwide log data.

"Our existing firewall systems provided only packet-filtering functionality and had reached the end of their planned lifecycle. We were interested in adding anti-virus and content reporting at the Internet gateway. With a decentralized network consisting of 11 Internet gateways, we needed to minimize the number of vendors and appliances involved in the solution," said Chuck DeMille, director of Network Infrastructure & Security at Fish & Richardson. "After an extensive evaluation of the market and products, Fortinet's FortiGate integrated platform was chosen because it gave us all the required security we needed within a single appliance. The addition of the FortiAnalyzer product enabled us to consolidate our security logging and analysis as well as provide high-level reports requested by management."

Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications and services such as anti-virus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard™ Network, which provides continuous updates that help ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic -- around the clock and around the world.

FortiAnalyzer systems are purpose built appliances that provide valuable intelligence and simplify and centralize the collection and analysis of log and event data from Fortinet's FortiGate security appliances, delivering highly relevant network reports, valuable intelligence on network usage and assistance with meeting regulatory compliance.

"It is imperative that law firms such as Fish & Richardson have a network security solution to help protect their extremely sensitive data and to allow them to easily report on network activity," said Karl Soderlund, Fortinet's senior vice president, Americas sales and global alliances. "Fortinet's expansive product portfolio allows enterprises of all sizes to have the benefits of an integrated, scalable multi-threat security solution, as well as provides complimentary analysis, management and security tools."
