New FortiGate™-5101C Combined With the FortiGate™-5140B Chassis Can Secure Over 100 Gbps of IPv6 Traffic, Turning the Two Into the World's Fastest Firewall for Both IPv4 and IPv6

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2012) - Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) -- a world leader in high-performance network security -- today announced two additions to its next-generation firewall product family that are designed to meet the growing threat protection and IT infrastructure control requirements of large enterprises, service providers and carriers that provide complex, multi-tenant cloud-based services. The FortiGate™-3240C is a multi-threat security appliance that provides best-in-class port density for optimal scalability. The FortiGate-5101C is a high-powered security blade that integrates the latest FortiASIC™ processors to accelerate the performance of FortiGate-5000 Series ATCA-compliant systems including the FortiGate-5140B, the world's fastest firewall. With IPv6 performance up to 100 Gbps, the FortiGate-5140B is also the world's fastest IPv6 firewall.

By combining ultra-high performance with broad security capabilities, Fortinet's next-generation firewalls consolidate stand-alone security products. This consolidation minimizes the historic security/performance tradeoff by eliminating the sources of latency that negatively impact network performance. As a result, organizations have the freedom to enforce control over their IT infrastructure at a much more granular level without having to make performance compromises. Designed from the ground up as a next-generation firewall that tightly integrates application control technologies with an intrusion prevention system, the FortiGate-3240C exerts granular control over more than 1,900 discrete applications and provides real-time protection against current and emerging Advanced Persistent Threats. In addition, the compact 2-RU format appliance delivers up to 40 Gbps of firewall throughput and tremendous scalability with 12 hardware-accelerated 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) ports and 16 hardware-accelerated Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports, ports, the highest 10-GbE port density in its class.

In addition to serving as a next-generation firewall, the FortiGate-3240C consolidates a rich set of security features to help protect high bandwidth networks including integrated Intrusion Prevention, user-based policies and endpoint policy enforcement. As an IPv6-ready platform with strong authentication options for secure remote access and policy compliance, the new appliance provides integration with Fortinet's FortiManager™ and FortiAnalyzer™ systems to centralize and simplify management, reporting and analysis for thousands of Fortinet devices. In addition, the FortiGate-3240C supports redundant, hot-swappable power supplies to minimize single points of failure in large, complex enterprise and carrier networks where network downtime can have dire financial consequences.

Featuring the latest FortiASIC Content Processor and Security Processor chips, FortiGate-5101C security blades accelerate the performance of FortiGate-5000 Series ATCA-compliant chassis-based systems. A fully stocked FortiGate-5140B chassis using FortiGate-5101C security blades will provide up to 100 Gbps of IPv6 firewall throughput for next-generation networks, providing the fastest IPv6 protection on the market. This is critical to large enterprises and service providers migrating to the new standard protocol for the Internet.

In addition to being the fastest ATCA security blade in the industry, the FortiGate-5101C supports consolidated security functions that help protect low-latency networks against the latest blended threats and Web-based attacks. By populating FortiGate-5000 series chasses-based systems with FortiGate-5101C security blades, networks can be segmented by customer, business unit or any other logical division for granular control with up to 300 virtual domains per blade that is ideal for virtualized infrastructures. The security blades also integrate with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer systems to provide centralized command with rich analytics and reporting to help security managers stay fully current with evolving security needs.
