FortisBC Inc. Announces Appointments to Board of Directors

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 2, 2006) - FortisBC Inc. (TSX:FTS) today announced the appointment of Harry McWatters as chair of the FortisBC board of directors and Walter Gray as director to the FortisBC board.

Harry McWatters, who has served on the Company's board of directors since September 2005, is President of the Sumac Ridge Wine Group, and is a leader in British Columbia's thriving wine industry. He is the founder and President of numerous wine industry initiatives, including the Okanagan Wine Festival Society. He is also Vice President responsible for government and industry relations in Western Canada for Vincor International. Mr. McWatters has lived with his family in the town of Summerland since 1976.

Walter Gray joins the FortisBC board after many years of service to the Okanagan community. He served as mayor of Kelowna from 1996 to 2005, and prior to his tenure as mayor, served as city councilor for the City of Kelowna from 1986 to 1990. Mr. Gray is currently a director of Sun Country Cablevision Ltd., with stations in Salmon Arm, Enderby and Armstrong. In partnership, Mr. Gray created and managed numerous radio stations in British Columbia, including CKIQ Radio and The Bullet in Kelowna. Mr. Gray, a resident since 1946, currently resides in Kelowna with his family.

Stanley Marshall, President & CEO of Fortis Inc., acted as chair to the FortisBC board since May 2004. Mr. Marshall will continue to serve on the Company's board as a director. Mr. Gray is replacing Mr. Bruce Chafe, who has been appointed to the position of chair of the Fortis Inc. board of directors.
