Fortress Appoints Ian Slater as President and CEO

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 17, 2007) - Fortress Minerals Corp. ("Fortress" or "the Company") (TSX VENTURE:FST) reports the appointment of Mr. Ian Slater as President and CEO of the Company effective as of September 17, 2007. Mr. Slater replaces Mr. Ron Hochstein who will resign as President and CEO, remaining a Director of the Company.

Ian Slater is a Chartered Accountant with over 16 years of experience in international finance in the global resource sector. Most recently, Mr. Slater was a Partner with Ernst & Young where he led their Canadian mining practice and a team of over 200 professionals. His practice provided financial, audit, accounting, risk, tax, valuation and transaction advisory services to global mining companies.

Mr. Slater also brings many years of experience and expertise in Central Asia and Russia. While a Partner with Arthur Andersen, Mr. Slater founded and led their mining practice in Central Asia for 6 years. He negotiated with governments at all levels on behalf of some of the resource industry's largest companies.

The Company has granted 500,000 incentive stock options to Mr. Slater. The options are exercisable at a price of $0.99 over a period of 3 years and are subject to vesting provisions.
