RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) - Fortress Technologies, the leader in secure tactical wireless communications, today announced that its latest system software successfully completed an independent commercial vulnerability assessment conducted by Symantec. This assessment is part of Fortress' overall commitment to quality and performance, going above and beyond the certification and accreditation requirements of the federal government and Department of Defense (DoD).

Symantec tested Fortress' system software, which is used to oversee the performance and control of its line of outdoor deployable, man-wearable, and vehicle-based wireless networking solutions. The test included sustained penetration attacks on the Fortress ES520 Secure Wireless Bridge, an all-in-one network access device with built-in security. Independent security professionals attempted to hack into the system using the same methods that malicious attackers employ in an operational, deployed environment. At the time of the assessment, Symantec found the overall architecture of the system software to be designed and implemented with security best practices in mind.
