Fortress Technologies Completes Symantec Independent Vulnerability Assessment

Company Reinforces Commitment to Quality and Performance

RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2010) -  Fortress Technologies, the leader in secure tactical wireless communications, today announced that its latest system software successfully completed an independent commercial vulnerability assessment conducted by Symantec. This assessment is part of Fortress' overall commitment to quality and performance, going above and beyond the certification and accreditation requirements of the federal government and Department of Defense (DoD).

"Fortress understands the intense environments in which many of our customers work, and we recognize the importance of protecting their deployed wireless infrastructures," said Jeff Bradbury, VP of Marketing, Fortress. "This independent commercial validation serves as an additional level of protection for our DoD and civilian government customers. As a company, we will continue to ensure that our wireless solutions provide the highest levels of security and protection of any available product on the market."

Symantec tested Fortress' system software, which is used to oversee the performance and control of its line of outdoor deployable, man-wearable, and vehicle-based wireless networking solutions. The test included sustained penetration attacks on the Fortress ES520 Secure Wireless Bridge, an all-in-one network access device with built-in security. Independent security professionals attempted to hack into the system using the same methods that malicious attackers employ in an operational, deployed environment. At the time of the assessment, Symantec found the overall architecture of the system software to be designed and implemented with security best practices in mind.

"Fortress has a mature and robust product portfolio with thousands of deployed nodes across the globe," said Janet Kumpu, President, Fortress. "We must ensure our solutions are prepared and hardened against malicious attacks. Symantec's active penetration testing adds significant value beyond DoD and government standards, and is one more example of our commitment to delivering the most secure solutions to the warfighter."

Fortress will be demonstrating the ES520 and its complete line of mobility products, including the ES210 and ES820, during the Association of the United States Army's (AUSA) Winter Symposium and Exhibition, taking place February 24-26, 2010 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL (booth #338).
