The Forzani Group Ltd.: Sport Chek Teams Up With Park & Pipe Magazine to Offer the First Ever Sport Chek Riders' Guide

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 26, 2006) - Sport Chek, a corporate banner of The Forzani Group Ltd. (TSX:FGL), Canada's largest retailer of sporting goods has teamed up with Canada's leading school publication, Park & Pipe Magazine to bring consumers the first ever Snowboard Riders' Guide.

The 24-page Sport Chek Riders' Guide is inserted into every Park & Pipe magazine and available exclusively in Canadian High Schools and in Sport Chek stores in mid-October. The Riders' Guide provides technical and other information on 39 different boards, as well as the best in boots and bindings from Burton, K2, RIDE, 5150 and more, all available at Sport Chek. With the huge demand in the market for women's snowboards, Sport Chek ensured that the Riders' Guide included snowboards and gear strictly for women, with features like narrower waist widths, softer flexes, and female inspired graphics.

The Guide includes a Board Comparison Chart, which outlines these snowboards available at Sport Chek, and provides rating scales on board type (freeride, freestyle, wide & regular), board material base options, sizing and ability rankings. The Guide will help consumers make more knowledgeable comparisons and selection.

"With over 3.2 million Canadians between 12 and 19, teens have tremendous spending power and usually have a strong say, if not the final decision, on what gets purchased," said Hubert Wat, VP, Corporate Marketing for The Forzani Group Ltd. "This is a market trend that will continue to grow over many years, and we're thrilled that we can reach this targeted audience through Park & Pipe Magazine."

"We are excited to be partnered with Sport Chek on this tremendous program and provide communication through Park & Pipe Magazine to over 600,000 Teen Skiers and Snowboarders right where they work, play and socialize, in Canada's High Schools. Sports Active Teens have a huge influence on the purchase of many consumer product groups, especially sports equipment, and this sports active group is very difficult group to reach in any traditional way. The most successful environment to communicate with this audience is in the High Schools and on the slopes," said Fred Sanders, Director of Marketing, Park & Pipe Magazine.
