Foundation 4Life Responds to 8.8 Quake in Chile

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - March 8, 2010) -  On Saturday, February 27, one of the largest earthquakes in recent history hit the country of Chile. The quake measured 8.8 on the Richter scale and set off a tsunami that devastated coastal communities south of the capital, Santiago.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that hospitals have collapsed and there is a shortage of healthcare workers. More than one million people are without power, 500,000 homes are severely damaged, and many people, fearful of aftershock, now stay in tents.

The Chilean community is 3,000 strong in Utah, the state of 4Life's global headquarters. 4Life appreciates the service of numerous Chilean corporate employees. With thousands of Chilean distributors committed to improving people's lives through science, success, and service, Chile represents one of 4Life's newest Andean markets.

Foundation 4Life®, 4Life Research's non-profit organization, is addressing this disaster in two unique ways:

  • $10,000 Donation to Chilean Red Cross

4Life Senior Vice President Trent Tenney and Nelson Altamirno, 4Life Director, Web Services, appeared on Azteca America Broadcast Television on Saturday evening to present a $10,000 Check to the Chilean Red Cross. 100% of this money is earmarked to provide immediate relief aid to the hardest hit communities of Chile.

  • $5,000 donation to SOS Children's Village, Concepción, Chile

Although all children survived, there has been damage to SOS Children's Villages in Santiago and Concepción.

4Life has offices on five continents to service a global network of independent distributors through science, success, and service.
