Foundation Calls for Submissions for 2013 BC Aboriginal Business Awards

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2013) - The Foundation that annually honours the best in aboriginal business has issued its call for submissions for the prestigious award. The deadline for 2013 submissions is Sept. 16.

"We are looking for submissions that highlight the work and success of aboriginal entrepreneurs of all sizes and types-small, medium and large companies, joint venture firms, and community-owned businesses in every possible field of business activity," says Keith Mitchell, chair of the BC Achievement Foundation.

"These awards highlight the best of aboriginal businesses in British Columbia."

The BC Aboriginal Business Awards recognize business excellence in the following categories: Young Entrepreneur, Joint Venture, Community-Owned and Business of the Year awards for one-to-two-person enterprises, two-to-10-person enterprises, and enterprises with 10 or more persons. Last year's recipients honoured construction companies and electronic communications firms; shellfish aquaculture to logging, and electrical contracting to aerial surveying. The awards selection panel considers the success and sustainability of the business.

Award recipients are celebrated at a Vancouver gala presentation on Dec. 5. Previous winners say it is a thrill to have their businesses lauded by the business community.

"Being recognized along with other equally successful individuals and teams, made me feel proud of my achievements and my heritage, said former Business of the Year outstanding business achiever Jocelyn Eisert, CEO and founder Bizzy Body Events of Fort St. John. "It allowed me to look back on my experiences and appreciate how I got there and all that I learned along the way."
