Founding Partner Douglas DeGrave Named 2013 President of the California American Board of Trial Advocates

LAGUNA HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 6, 2012) - Founding Partner Douglas M. DeGrave of Poliquin & DeGrave LLP was elected as the 2013 President of the California American Board of Trial Advocates Chapter (CAL-ABOTA), a legal professional organization with over 1,500 members and eight chapters statewide that fosters improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy.

A Villa Park resident, DeGrave, 58, was sworn in as CAL-ABOTA President by California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye during the CAL-ABOTA Conference on November 9, 2012 at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii.

DeGrave says of his installation, "I am honored to serve CAL-ABOTA as president for 2013. This is a difficult time for the judicial branch and our system of civil justice. There are people, some of whom even serve in government, who have forgotten that the judicial branch is a co-equal branch of government, not a lesser department. We hope to change that misunderstanding of our constitution."

Responsibilities of the CAL-ABOTA president include elevating the standards of integrity, honor, ethics, civility and courtesy as trial lawyers in the legal profession.

DeGrave was also named OC Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2011 by ABOTA.
