Fountain Powerboats Completes Fifth Fountain University Session

Dealers Complete Fountain's Certification Program as They Gear Up for Participation in the Two Largest Domestic Boat Shows

WASHINGTON, NC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 27, 2006 -- Fountain Powerboat Industries, Inc. (AMEX: FPB), a leading manufacturer of high performance sport boats, fish boats and express cruisers, today announced the completion of the fifth session of the Fountain University Certification Program held at the company's corporate facilities in Washington, North Carolina, on December 5th and 6th. To date the program has trained approximately 180 sales personnel from more than 65 international and domestic dealerships. The completion of the certification program is mandatory for any sales person selling a Fountain boat.

The session, hosted by Fountain management and the company's third party vendors and partners, provides dealers and their employees' educational, technical and practical experience. Each Fountain University session is structured as a two-day tutorial with lecture and a hands-on program focused on how to present the features, advantages and benefits of owning a Fountain boat, from fuel conservation and construction methodology to passenger safety at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

One of the more important and unique aspects of Fountain University is the company's ability to teach each student how to demonstrate the capability of a Fountain boat in the water. When a Fountain boat is delivered to a customer it arrives with a performance report and the dealership trains each customer how to best operate their new Fountain boat, a service which, in the long run, keeps customer satisfaction ratings high and warranty claims low. Fountain is the only company that provides a performance report for the end user.

"We believe training is paramount to our continued success," said Fountain Chairman and CEO Reggie M. Fountain, Jr. "The marine industry is extremely competitive and according to our dealers, the program has given their sales personnel a competitive advantage, which has significantly increased boat sales. We expect to see a continued return on our training investment during the upcoming New York National Boat Show, being held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center December 30 through January 7, and the Miami International Boat Show, being held at the Miami Beach Convention Center February 15 through February 19. These are two of the most prestigious domestic boat shows and last year represented Fountain dealer sales in excess of $20 million."

In addition to teaching aids and materials given to the attendees, Fountain University has created DVDs for Phase II of the program, that include information on: 1) The features, advantages and benefits of the Fountain product line, 2) How to sell a Fountain high performance sport boat, fish boat, and cruiser, and 3) 'At Sea' operations of the high performance sport boat, fish boat, and cruiser. The University session closed with certifications being awarded and a graduation dinner.
