Four Grammy Winning Artists Highlight the "Concert for the American Dream"; Outdoor Feria at the 19th Annual San Jose Mexican Heritage Festival

Intocable, Ozomatli, Los Lobos, and Los Tex Maniacs Perform at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez -- Sunday, September 26

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - August 30, 2010) -  The San José Mexican Heritage Festival announced today a change in venue for the Festival's "Concert for the American Dream," which will close the Festival on September 26. The concert will be held at the Plaza de Cesar Chávez in downtown San José, in a move intended to ensure that the concert is accessible to a broad audience.

The concert will feature four Grammy-winning Latino acts -- Tejano/Norteño stars Intocable, East LA icons Los Lobos, U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors Ozomatli, and Texas conjunto legends Los Tex Maniacs, as well as a roster of outstanding local artists.

"This change makes 'The Concert for the American Dream' accessible and affordable to all," said Marcela Davison Aviles, Festival Executive Producer. "In today's social environment, balancing the negative narrative in the media about Latinos, and Mexicans in particular is critical. Our goal with this event is to celebrate our shared humanity with as broad an audience as possible -- and hopefully build a new movement for social justice though music. During Hispanic Heritage month in September, we invite everyone to celebrate the Latino contributions to our civic culture. Come enjoy this fantastic roster of artists in San José on Sunday, September 26 and join us in affirming our immigrant roots and our common heritage."

The new venue underscores the Festival's vision of creating cultural events and opportunities that will promote community interaction and engagement that perpetuates a positive and accurate portrayal of Latino culture and heritage.

Los Tigres del Norte, originally scheduled to perform at HP Pavilion on September 26, will not be appearing at the Festival. Refunds are available at the HP Pavilion box office.
